Is there a better sollution for our dipstick?
Just like the topic says..... my OEM dipstick works about as good as a bent nail and looks like one too. I was wondering if there was another VQ-Powered vehicle in the Nissan/ Infiniti lineup I could get one from that isn't bent at a 45 degree 3/4 way to the top. It's almost impossible to get it back in after checking the oil.

He is correct in his method. If you try to insert it the way you think it should go you will end up bending it and making it worse. It is a poor design. The old wire type would work better.

I was going to say, I haven't had any problem with mine. Maybe yours is bent out of shape. Sorry to hear about the complaint.

Yea.. it is an odd design, but it certainly isn't a hassle, you just kind of twist it and it goes right in. Strange though, that the ATF dipstick is the wire type, and this one isn't.

try this method...
I just came in from changing my oil. The trick to this is, place the stick in the tube with the finger pull facing the front of the truck and as you push it in about two thirds of the way in it will rotate to it's correct position. I tried it four times and it went in effortlessly. Hope this helps you out.

Poor guys got a crooked dipstick.... I believe some of that bend is actually to keep the dipstick from rattling in the tube...
