How much does your boat weight? Is it loaded with gear too?

I do not push the over drive button when towing. But I went through a quarter tank in 2 days driving about 13 miles max

When you tow you are supposed to turn the overdrive off. We still need more info about your truck; Yr, mileage, maintenance done on the truck, any CEL's. Also do not calculate your mpg by using your gas gauge. Your fuel guage could have went bad. Go fill up your gas tank, reset your trip meter odometer. Next time you fill up take the miles you have driven from your trip meter and divide that by the number of gallons you get the next time you fill up.

I find it hard to understand how you used 1/4 tank of gas in only 15 miles...

I think he is expecting his gas gauge to be linier.
Towing gas mileage sucks.
If you are worried about gas mileage for normal driving then refill after you finish towing and start fresh. Any towing will put a big dent in the gas mileage.
The gas gauge is not an exact insterment of how much gas you used, in the ballpark on a good day, they make the weatherman look like they know what they are talking about.

I bought my 2012 SV CC V6 AT specifically to haul a 16ft boat. I only have about 1200 miles on the truck. I have been getting just under 17 MPG in mixed driving. I towed the boat once about 80 miles. I will check to see what mileage I got on that tank. I towed with the OD off. As I recall, the reduction wasn't too bad. I'll let you know tomorrow.

Mileage so far. This is during the break-in period, so I am still using a light right foot.

17.1@348
17.2@579
16.7@848
16.9@1094
16.8@1352

Total mileage so far 16.9MPG

The lowest mileage was towing the boat with the O/D off. That tank was 16.7MPG. Towing the boat was probably 80% highway driving at 60-70 MPH.
