Sportbike in a short bed?

Hey guys, Im new here and just wanted to ask for all of your help. I have a GSXR 600 that I need to get from Orlando to Mobile, AL. I cant put it on a trailer because I will have my boat behind me as well. Is it possible/safe to put a sportbike in the back of a shortbed Frontier? I have the utilitrack system as well(why cant they just put regular d rings in?) I know the rear wheel of the bike will sit on the tailgate, but most of the weight is on the front wheel. Any tips suggestions on using the track system for the tie downs?

welcome aboard for starters. i have a hayabusa and it fits in the regular k/c bed with the rear wheel resting on the gate. i am not to certain about the short bed but i am sure someone who has one will chime in. i would recommend a bar harness like canyon dancer with 4 camber tie downs. 2 in front for the bar harness and 2 to stabilize the rear. a wheel chock is a must unless you want to risk the bike from slipping out from under you. i think the 600 fender is pretty high where you won't risk scuffing from the front of the bed. hope that helps a bit and good luck!

There is a red Nismo CC with the short bed that has a red bike in it (its a pic of his avitar). It will fit with the tailgate down and it might work if with the tailgate up if the bike is crooked. The only issue with the tailgate down is going to be clearance with your boat. IDK how your trailer is set-up but you will have to see if you have the clearance to keep the tailgate down or not.

The best thing is to try and mock it up. If you can get the bike in the back easily then try it and go from there. If not, then atleast hook up your trailer and see what it looks like with the tailgate down.

Just be careful not to drop the tailgate on the trailer and dent/ruin your tailgate.

Can 2 bikes fit on a crew cab bed(short bed) with the tail down? I'm currently in the market for a frontier( 05 and up) but need to know if 2 sportbikes fit on the back.

Thanks in advance

i know someone who has put 2 bikes in a crew cab bed before...its just really tight and you need to work with the tiedown...but yea it can be done.

And when i had my bike i had it in the back quite a bit. Its really easy and easy to tie down...Ive found it best to use to tracks on the bottom of the bed for the canyon dancers than the side..

no worries if you don't have a canyon dancer. Put your utili track tie downs on the left and right tracks on the floor. Have the straps go up through the front wheelwell of the bike and wrap around its respective fork and the lower triple clamp. no need to worry bout plastic damage as it goes nowhere near it.
