Sounds like: wom wom wom wom wom

For about two years I've had a noise that sounds like wom wom wom wom wom wom wom wom. Ha. It is most noticeable at about 25 mph and can be felt slightly too through my feet. It disappears over 30 mph. I feel it has something to do with a wheel, but the location of the sound hasn't changed with tire rotations. The sound has not gotten progressively worse. It is heard and felt more strongly on right-bending curves at 25 mph.

I thought it might be a flat spot on a tire but the sound hasn't moved with rotations.

I also thought it might be a wheel bearing issue but the noise isn't like a continuous sound that changes pitch depending on speed.

Thoughts?

Find a smooth, deserted roadway, climb into the bed while someone drives at 25. Lean over the side to see where the noise is coming from. You can also clamp a Go-Pro to the frame and point it the tires. I think it's a bad tire.

^^ They are the original tires with 62k since 2005. My primary suspect is a tire, second being wheel bearings.

Tires have a life of 5 years, worn out or not. I had a tire make the same sound. It turned out water got into the steel belts through the sidewall cracks. The belts rusted and the tread separated from the inner casing.

I had the same noise, and as everyone is saying it turned out to be the tires... ALL of my tires were horribly out of balance according to Discount. They were the original tires with about 45k on them.

Thanks for the consensus I'm really glad it's tires.

I was hoping to keep the OEMs till the tread was lower but I guess I'll be looking for tires now!

Honestly I've been really happy with the General Grabbers I may just get those again.

My Hankooks started making the same type of noise in the past month or so. It sounds kinda like a wheel bearing, and it goes away when cornering just like a wheel bearing noise would. The bearings are fine though. I had the tires rotated and the shop said that my front tires were feathering. But my sound DID change when I had the tires rotated - it is much quieter now, and it sounds like it's coming from behind me now rather than in front.

Maybe it's more than just one tire. With their age and mileage I wouldn't be surpised. So rotating them might not change the sound or where it's coming from.
