I've been planning on getting my dad a new Frontier for awhile now. The last Frontier I bought for myself was a 2012 with an MSRP of $27,315.
$27,808 after dealer add on's. They had rebates back then and with some work I was able to leave for $24,250 after ALL fees, and tax.
The trucks I'm the most interested in for my dad are new SV Crew Cab 4x2's without the VTP. MSRP is around $25,500.
Am I completely unreasonable at trying to get OTD for around 23k on a new 15? I am definitely a low baller, and there is no rush to get one so I told them I would be patient and keep checking around.
The sales guy told me there is a shortage of Frontiers, and Nissan is canceling orders they put in. He said they aren't building many because they are gearing up the plant for the new Titan. There is a $500 rebate right now, but dealers aren't haggling because of the shortage according to him.
Yeah I'm definitely cross shopping. Shooting for a new one, but this particular dealer had a 2015 Base SV CC 2wd with 15k miles, and they wanted 26,500 OTD.
I told him he was crazy. I offered him 21k not expecting them to take the deal, but that's the most I would go used because I don't think 23k for a new one is too far out of reach If I'm patient. Time will tell!
Not sure of a shortage but they tried to play me. I told them what I wanted for my trade & final price. He called & tried to BS me. I explained I WOULD be making a purchase within 3-5 days & hung up. Less than 5 minutes later he called back & asked when I wanted to come in. lol
Well I am not sure on the shortage of frontiers, but I got a 4x4 base SV for just over $25,000. They played the game, but I played better. Kept saying let's go to the Ram dealership...Ford dealership...Toyota dealership...the came down real quick.
I got a 15 cc 4x2 SV with VTP rubber mats and running boards. For 23.5k before tax and fees. Was 25.4k after but VTP adds $1800-2100 plus my add ons so I don't think you are unreasonable. But I did price shop every dealer in GA and look at ones in Florida. Ended up making a Ga dealer price math a Florida price.
Since you in atl. I found autonation of lithia springs to purchase mine at. I used the price of autonation of Brandon which is Tampa Florida. They had a SV no VTP for 22or 22.5 then. I found the price on autotrader. Right now their site us an msrp for 27.4. Sale for 23.599. Which has VTP.
Do autotrader gettel Nissan is showing msrp 26.2 for 20.9. Could use that as leverage. Becaus eat that price your right at 23k OTD
The sales guy told me there is a shortage of Frontiers, and Nissan is canceling orders they put in. He said they aren't building many because they are gearing up the plant for the new Titan.
Skibane, I really hope that is sarcasm. Either that or the salesmen tell the truth, as told to them by the sales manager who do not have to follow the code. I have caught more than one in a lie in the past and expect I will do so again in the future.
All the central Florida dealers had 2014's well into April and May of this year.
I know because I searched daily looking for my 15 DR.
Tried to get a good "old new stock" deal on a '14 but they wouldn't budge.
I bought my '02 XE CC in March of '03 at $6k off because I argued "old new stock".
Auto plants often shut and transition to the new model year during a few weeks each summer, finishing out existing orders before the shut. Perhaps it's too late in the model year?
I sometimes order new trucks in my job and in years past at least, I couldn't place an order with Ford past mid-June.
Ordered my '15 SV 4x2 6-sp Jan 2nd...didn't take delivery until May 9th.
~ 'Heard' the plant had switched over to Murano production due to the recent retooling
~ Also 'heard' they had a part's supplier not supplying 'parts'
Whutevuh, right?
Bottom line: 18 weeks takes even longer than normal when waiting on a new vehicle. Criminy.
That's mostly correct. 2012 was the last year Smyrna built any trucks. All Frontier production went to Canton in 2013 while Smyrna now builds all car platforms.
Your truck came out of Canton, but Smyrna is building the new Murano. Previously Muranos were build in Japan.
I don't think the supply is as short as the sales guy was saying. One dealer just offered me a deal for a 2015 Base SV CC. $23,614 before fees. Not a bad deal, but I know I can do better so I'll keep being patient.
I watched the US Frontier inventory dwindle from roughly 23,000 to around 7,500 from Dec '14 to May '15. There are now 5,329 on dealer lots according to Nissanusa.com. So, I guess that may very well qualify as a shortage...which would keep prices higher as far as supply&demand goes.
Makes 100% sense about the Murano excuse = hearsay.
Nissan pinches off Frontier production to build more of these? Where's my air sickness bag?
Whatever happened to this Murano beauty? I never saw one on the road.
Nobody wanted a two door SUV convertible?
I doubt Murano production had any effect on Frontier production since they are in different plants. I actually believe him about retooling for the Titan having an effect since they ride down the same line in certain parts of the plant.
Looking a Nissannews.com, Frontier sales are down 1285 units for June of 2015 vs June of 2014 so hopefully it will cause them to release some good rebates sooner than later.
I went with 2015 SV CC 4x4 w/VTP. Trucks msrp is $30,580.i received $3500 off so $27000 before tax title and trade. My trade was positive $2700 so OTD $25,100. Financed at 1.9 for 60 $440 per month. Fairly happy with the deal. Only model they couldnt locate was a manual 4x4 sv. All remaining manuals were out east.
I got a great deal through Costco in Dec, 2014 on a 2015, SV, auto,4x2, floor mats, Nissan bed liner. I talked with 5 dealers and only one dealer even tried to beat it (they were playing games though). I'll dig out the paperwork later but $22.6 K as I recall. The point is, talk with Costco. Great price, no haggle !
I can tell you that in NY, there isn't a shortage necessarily of Frontiers -- but there is a glut of white or silver ones around here... I was checking inventory weekly until my 15 Cayenne Red/CC/SL 4x4 showed up at the dealership I planned to buy at.. When I called them about it, it was still en route from Canton -- but arrived about a week later.. I took delivery 5/30. Also, I got the truck for $3K under MSRP - so you can assume there isn't a shortage of supply vs demand.
Also, has there been any word on whether the NP300 version is coming to the US? I've read that Nissan does not plan on bringing that here. At any rate, the retooling for the new Titan is most plausible.
Yeah, white is a very popular color here for ANY vehicle because the weather is so hot and white stays the coolest. It was my main reason for choosing white.
Just looking at the web page for my local Nissan dealer, they have five new 2015 Frontiers - most of them marked down $2500 to $3500. And that's not doing any negotiation. Its just the price they have posted right on their web page. That seems pretty normal around where I live (though I don't think I have ever actually seen a 2WD Frontier in Minnesota so can't help you there). In 2013, mine had an MSRP of $29,883 and I paid $26.5K - there again a little more than $3k off - pretty normal. So if what you want has an MSRP of $25.5K and if you can actually find that configuration, then expecting to get it for $23K seems completely reasonable to me. Of course everything the local dealer has are more upscale packages so while there may not be a shortage...there may be a shortage of trucks that exactly match up with what you are looking for.
Yeah the configuration I'm going for isn't hard to find. I've made a couple of offers but no one is budging. I also had a 12 CC I bought new. It had an MSRP of $27,315. $27,808 after dealer BS add ons.
I left after ALL tax, and fees for 24,250 OTD.
So Im actually trying to get a BASE SV with the $25,500 MSRP FOR 23 after all fees. They used to constantly have rebates on Frontiers. I believe its only $500 at the moment. I'm in no rush. I'll come across it eventually and report back.
The 2012 Frontier Crew Cab for my son is nice, but I'm trying every avenue available to hook one of these new Retro-FJ Landcruiser Trucks, without having to buy it IN Japan and having it shipped over here for me.
Brand new, this year only. :nerd:
