Rumors about Ford Ranger and Nissan Frontier, bullshit?

I am currently arguing with an older Mr. Peabody about the Ford Ranger vs. Nissan Frontier. He states the Nissan Frontier and the Ford Ranger are the same truck, is this true? I dont think they make the Ford Ranger anymore, but he states the older trucks were the same.
I do know that they both had a 4.0/v6 back in the day. But i thought Nissan drive train was made in Japan and Ford wasn't?

Please someone please tell me the truck, that Ford and Nissan trucks were never the same!!
I need the truth!!

Methinks Mr. Peabody is smoking too much weed. The Ford Ranger and the Mazda B-Series were the same truck after 1993. The Nissan Frontier is the same truck as the Suzuki Equator.

Tell old dude to repeat the following:

Oh Wa, Ta goo, Sy Am.

Nissan, is nissan, and even the Suzuki equators have the nissan motor/drivetrain. Just badged with the S, instead of a burger. Ford Originally owned 25% of mazda in the late 70's early 80's. That ownership has dwindled to less than 5% as of 2010. Your Mr. Peabody is highly uninformed stating the Frontier is a ford Ranger. That's like saying the Honda Ridgeline is made by International- completely incorrect.

The closest manufacturer to Nissan is Renault.

Ford and Mazda have had ties for a while in the truck and car categories. Ford probe/Mazda mx6 and many engines all over the place.

I am having difficulty of thinking about where ford and Nissan may have had ties but nothing is coming to me.

They still make the ranger as well. Though the international ranger and American ranger have split ways now. International ranger being on the same platform as the current Mazda b series an the American ranger being on the old platform.

Nissan was going to partner with Chrysler for the next Frontier, but Chrysler's bankruptcy and sale to Fiat unwound all that. I suppose if plans had held together, there would have been an earlier Frontier redesign and Dodge would not have axed the Dakota.

Close, It was actually the Titan they were going to partner on. The new Rams seem like nice rigs ,but I would much rather have a VK56 powered Nissan vs a Hemi powered one.

Nowadays, when an argument should occur, I just say to the other person, "Google it, and I'll believe it when you prove it."
