Replacement glass for moon sunroof

My 08 Nismo crew cab was vandalized tonight. The sunroof was shattered by a large metal washer. It looks like someone threw it in the parking lot.

I've searched around but no luck. Can the glass itself be replaced? Will a winshield replacement company have the parts/expertise? I see some stories on the web with other makes that require the dealer to purchase an entire assembly.

Please let me know if you've had any experience with this type of repair or heard anything. I'm interested to know how much it costs.

Thanks

I think it will be the entire assembly. Have you contacted your insurance yet? It might be a good thing to do and just let them take care of it.

That sucks, I would find a place to garage the truck from now on. I think the laws should be a lot tougher on vandals. It's such an unwarranted evil act.

Damn dude, that really sucks.
As said, contact your insurance company, they should be able to point you in the right direction.

Research

I got it all cleaned up and called a few glass companies. They all said it was a dealer part. I went down to the dealership and talked to the parts guy. He gave me a print out of the sunroof assembly and said all I needed was the "sunroof lid" part. The bad news: that part is $525 locally or $475 + shipping at Courtesy nissan. No one has the part in stock.

The good news: you can take the lid off easily. There are 4 screws that hold it on. The glass comes off with a permantely attached lightweight frame with contains a full perimiter brace with some weather stripping and the 4 mounting tabs. In the future, if you know of anyone in this boat. It looks like a simple DIY job. I'll know more when I find the part. I'm checking around with some salvage yards and I have them looking elsewhere too.
