Understood Mt.Aero...

Not fully comfortable with a blade next to the paint, I will just heat up the left over pieces, use a plastic credit card, and pull them until they can't be seen.

Again, to all of you, THANK YOU!

My two cents just from the advice people gave and actually doing the job. Use a hairdryer, I never felt that this was too much heat to damage the paint and I did not have to deal with any left over adheisve. A safe approach for sure

I used a heat gun to remove my RMZ-4 Sport decals, just heated enough to remove. Hair dryer is probably safer and hope it gets hot enough for you. Also used Goo Gone for little residual adhesive especially at edges - not nearly as harsh as goof off.

I was able to peel off the Pro4X decals without heat and without any problem but it was an 80+ degree day when I did that. Had a hair dryer at the ready but it wasn't needed.

One of them did leave a tiny bit of adhesive but I used a can of 3M adhesive remover that was meant for use on car paint and that cleaned it right up. Goo Be Gone or WD40 would probably have done it just as readily and safely.

Glad they came off cleanly for you!

+1 Goof Off works great but it is meant to remove paint. It should only be used when absolutely necessary. Goo Gone is a much safer choice.

yup heat is your friend whenever dealing with adhesives. Also I second what others said, don't use goof-off on any surface you care about. It's pretty strong stuff and I've seen it really screw up paint before. WD-40 dissolves adhesives very well and won't hurt your paint.

Agreed with the heat, but too much heat will soften the vinyl too much and it'll stretch and break too easily. Especially the thin stuff like pinstripes. A heat gun on low setting works great.

Looks like I am a day late/dollar short....

For anybody who uses the search function & finds this thread.... Most good body shops have a paint booth with heating elements to speed up the curing process of paint. This is ideal for decal removal. The booth typically heats up to about 140 degrees and vinyl decal replacement is a breeze.

I bought a full-size Ford E150 conversion van with tons of vinyl. Had damage to the hood, fender, and a door which required replacement. Couldn't match the vinyl & the conversion company had gone belly up. Removing it was my only option, and after 30 minutes or so in the booth, every square inch of vinyl was removed in 10 minutes. (and I lost 2 pounds in the heat, win/win)

And as already mentioned, a clay bar is good for removing the lingering adhesive.

Use a steamer... no glue is left behind, and it doesnt hurt anything. Works wonders on window tint too
