Powder Coat???

Whats up...Show some love for the rookie!!..Anyways peeps I have a question for ya'll...I bought some wheels for my brother's Fronty..He is currently deployed and I would like to surprise him when he gets back with his new NISMO wheels...I want to paint them to make them look a little different than the stock color..I don't know if it would be worth it to get them powder coated or just paint them myself (with the help of previous posts of course!). They range from 60-85$ per wheel to powder and clear coat them..Do you guys think it's worth the powder coat? TKS in advanced...

If he is going to offroad then I say paint so that when they do get scratched, they can be touched up. You might even look into bedlining them if he offroads.

If he is a mall crawler, then I would suggest the PowderCoating. It will hold up better over time but there is no touch-ups.

I would go powdercoat either way. No need to clear coat a powder finish though. That stuff is crazy durable, and looks pimp too.
That would be a nice surprise as long as you don't joke him and go pink or something crazy. That would be just plain funny. Ha.

Since he does not off-road, then Powdercoating will be the choice to go with. It is going to be the most durable finish you can get. Just make sure you warn him that if he does decide to go offroad, not to smash into any rocks because they will tear up the Powdercoating.

Good Luck.

actually, you can get clear powdercoat as well, to help protect it further. they also recommend it on some colors to keep them from changing due to fade.

and it might be durable than paint, but itll still come off if you want it to. just think of it as a really thick coat of paint, so scratches dont show as badly. i had to strip a set of wheels of their powdercoat and it was slightly more difficult than paint, but it still came right off.

That's awesome cool for you to do that for your bro while he's deployed. I'm sure he'll really appreciate it. Our boys and girls over there really need all the support they can get. Oh and powder coat all the way man.

OH, post a picture of 'em after you get it done!
