Working in an industry where I design and have manufactured various metal parts, I can tell you hands down that powdercoat is superior to any paint. It's much more durable then paint. Also, anodizing is another option that most people don't even think of.

If you do go with paint, I recommend an epoxy based one made for metals and use good primer, clear coat them too. Put wax (Wheel Wax is the product I use) on them when cured and you'll be set. Good luck and have fun and we'll need pics when your done!!

Based on everyones input, it looks like I'll be going with the powdercoat...I will post pix as soon as I get them powdercoated.

Yeah, all of our brothers and sisters do need a little love while they're handling business. Gotta give the brother a little morale boost when he gets back. Thanks guys..

Ditto, we are all grateful for what our brave men and women in the service do for the USA.

You can think of it that way but the materials used are a night and day difference. Its better to think of powdercoat as a layer of hard plastic molded onto the wheel.

The only way powder is slightly more difficult to remove than paint is if you use a heavy liquid stripper, which I doubt you will find spraying on your wheel while you drive around. In real world environments, powder is far more durable than spray unless its a 2part epoxy spray.
