Which oil filter

I'm ready for my 1st oil change and I have come across a problem

My local dealer gave me an oil filter(15208 65F0C) that is shorter than the filter that came from the factory(15208 31U0D). I took it back and they told me it was the right one and that they could not get the 15208 31U0D,that was on it from the factory. I called another dealer about this and they didn't have the filter either. Has anyone else run into this problem?? Can I use the filter they gave me???

the one on the left is the one that came off my truck and the other is the one that I bought from the dealer, any help is appreciated and I hope I didn't put this thread in the wrong place or ask a question that has already been covered

I guess the filters have been outsourced to China. I have the 15208 9E000 filters that were made in Japan for my 02 Max and my 06 Frontier. I guess they don't make those filters now. My filter is about 3½" tall.

Nissan filters

I too use the 15208-9E000 filter. They were used on all my Nissans, current and previous and never had a problem. My Quests (3) my Titan, my Pathfinder and my Frontiers (3) all used the same part number.

If it bothers you, get a good aftermarket filter and sleep tight!

Talking

I use Wix # 51356, and have used Wix on all my cars, I believe it is a great filter, just my 2 cents.

What year of truck do you have? Not sure about 04s and under cause my dealer changed mine in my 04, but 05+ use a Fram 7317. I use the Tough Gaurd 7317. I;m guessing a hell of a lot cheaper than what you're paying from the dealer.

Just over priced. NAPS/WIX are very good and priced better.

if nissan says its good then it prob is. looks to me the filter is just shorter now. same with and ill bet it goes right on.
i will always use nissan now or at least until my warranty is up.
i wont ever use fram again! i had the tough guard on and it failed on me, started making a buzzing sound that took me weeks of tryin to figure out by finally going to the dealer for them to discover it was my fram filter that had failed. i did kinda notice my oil pressure fluctuating oddly.

Fram is all about marketing and money for them, not about a good product for you. Just the name "tough guard" is meant to imply something, an image they want to imply. If their product is so good why are there so many users claiming they had poor results.
Same as Ford with "Quality Job1" they are claim this, not the public spreading the word. It just the company tooting their own horn.
