Oil Cooler

Well I did my first oil change and low and behold found that my SV V6 4x4 has an oil cooler, pretty cool. Do all VQ 4.0's have an oil cooler? I had a 06 KC V6 2wd that I believe did not. My new CC does have the factory tow package.
Wish that access door to get to the filter was a little bigger though! My hand and wrist were a tight fit going through that hole, and that Bugger had a pretty sharp edge!! My old 2wd did also, cut me pretty good the first time I changed oil on that one. No mess though, that little oil trough worked really well directing the oil though that access hole.

Don't reach your hand through the Access hole to get at the filter, come at it from the passenger wheel well. Crank your steering wheel to the right before you change your oil. That Access hole is just barely big enough to drop the filter through. That's how I change mine.

As far s I know they all have engine oil coolers as well as power steering oil coolers and external transmission oil coolers on auto transmissions equipped trucks.

As well as electric fans for supplemental radiator cooling - Unlike another popular mid-sized pickup...

You can put some door edge guard on the edge around the hole to make it more comfortable to put your arm through.

Trouble is I can hardly get my hand through the hole as it is! I am going to try the method of coming in from the side next time.

Only reason i unbolt the access door is to drain the oil out. Once you go from the side you will see the light. lol.

So that I'm clear on the technique of accessing the oil filter from the side, is one side (passenger or driver (in North America)) better than the other?

I've changed my oil through the little access door for 11+ Years and I've grown used to it, but if there's a better way, I'd like to give it a shot. Thanks.
