I have the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty with the dealership. Paid a litte extra to get it. I am taking it in asap on monday and I hope its covered under something. I love my truck but can't afford to sink a ton of money on it.

If its under extended warranty have the dealer take care of these issues, you paid extra for it. Also, it could be something fairly simple like a ujoint, seems to be fairly common on these trucks. If your concerned its radiator / tranny fluid cross contamination pull the cap and look to see of its milky at all.

No need to get rid of it yet, seems that everytime I have a problematic vehicle that I sell after I fix its issues I find out its fine when I bump into the buyer years down the road.

Well I took my truck to dealer today to diag. the problem. 2wd Nismo was right. coolant in tranny. tranny is destroyed, radiator destroyed. and on top of that the fuel sensor in gas tank is bad. tranny was $4,500 dollars and $1,300 for radiator, flushing all the lines, and fuel sensor. Luckily the 100,000 mile warranty covered the tranny but not the other crap. So I will get away with payin $1300. Alot of money to me but got to do somethin...haha They are giving me a car to drive as well and were nothing but nice and explained everything in detail. Tri cities nissan did very well.

Glad you got something covered. I have the extended as well, but I think it is crap you get stuck with that kind of bill, when Nissan is at fault on the tranny/radiator to start with. And why isn't a fuel sensor covered? Seems like the extended warranty is almost a joke in some ways. I'll bet anything the new trucks have the same probs down the road. We know the timming chain prob is still with us. I think only a very loud & collective noise from truck owners is going to make a difference. Most new buyers have no idea what might be lurking down the road for them, with these trucks untill its too late. If I sound a little bitter on it, its because I am.(see my posts) I'm mad for you. If your like me you could use that money on something else. And that you have fairly low miles just adds insult to injuy. Good Luck!!

It depends on what extended service plan you got, mine will cover everything right down to the belts and hoses. I've used it for window regulator, window motor, fuel sending unit, tailgate hinges, air/fuel ratio sensor, etc. If you find a good dealer, they will honor the service plan that you paid for.

And another one bites the dust... (radiator/tranny that is...)

The FSU is not part of the tranny/radiator cross contamination and you could have done it later or yourself for a lot less money, I think its under $100. As for the radiator I would have told the dealer to take a hike and if they were not going to pay for it. I would tell them to step aside and I would order my own for $140 shipped (online) and drop it in and have it towed back to the shop to wrap everything up the tranny.

Sounds like the dealer is being nice, but they are also making lots of money.
