the best you can do is get a transmission flush(more like a blood transfusion)

or drain the tranny fluid, replaced gasket from dealer and cleaned the magnet on the tranny pan.

you can not drain the torque converter w/o taking out the trans.

what i would do is, ill do the flush for now and about 3750 mile, take out the pan cleaned the filter and replaced the gasket.

or do vise versa

if you have a tranny cooler, yes you can drain the whole trans. you just have to disconnect the line on the "in" side of the cooler and place the end in a bucket and start the truck and put it in "N" so it can pump the fluid out. the best way it to find out how much the tranny holds and fill the bucket to that and mark it. when your pumping let it fill the bucket half way then add fluid to the trans. just keep pumping till new fluid comes out. then shut it down and reconnect the cooler line and add fluid till its back to full.

Will running the tranny in neutral while it pumps fluid out damage it when it runs dry?
By neutral u mean in parking right...wont start in neutral!

Any specs on tranny pan and filter bolt torque?

Syntetic or regular fluid?

thanks!!!

you only drain 1/2 of the fluid at a time. start the truck in "P" with the parking brake set shift to "N" and have someone watch till you have punped about 1/2 into the bucket. then go back to "P" shut off the engine. refill the trans and repeat till you get clean fluid. not it wont hurt anything because your just taking out half of the fluid.

How would I know when the tranny is half empy...how many quarts does tranny hold so I can make that mark in the bucket?
Guessing could lead to me draining all the fluid without knowing!

Torque specs on pan bolts?

Syntetic or regular?

Thanks!

fluid capasities are listed in your owners manual. as far as the pan bolts you should get a repair manual. chilton(sp?) or haynes.
