NISMO vs. XE, SE, LE trim - ECU and tire size question?

The Nismo trucks come stock with 32" tires and all the others come stock with somewhere around 30" tires.

Is there any reason to believe that the Nismo computers come from the factory programmed to recognize 32" tires so that the gauges consider that size? Or do you think they are all standard and roll of the lot tuned to a set tire size?

Before I got new tires, my speedo was about off a little bit. At 70 on the speedo, I was doing around 66 according to a GPS. These were the 265/65 17 LE tires. I got new tires, 265/70/17 (basically the same size that's on the Nismo, and my speedo is right on according to a GPS.

Wow.. that is interesting. I had never thought about this. For what it is worth, I have checked my speedo with a GPS device and they both matched up perfectly. I have an 07 Nismo.

I was a little shocked that it was right on when I got the new tires. So for the first year and a half I owned my truck, I was going slower than the speedo said. That's probably a few fake miles. Isn't this what happened with honda?

This is something I've been concerned with while I'm considering slightly bigger tires. If your speedo is off then so are all calculations of gas mileage and odometer readings.

Raider, that's really surprising that your speedo was 4 mph off. That's quite a bit!

If you think about it going the other way, that could easily lead to a speeding ticket.

Too funny... I was just noticing this myself. I have a LE and just this past week I put on some Nismo wheels with some standard Nismo size tires (265/75-16 Revo's) and now my speedo is right on the money. Before it was as Raider0914 said, always showing about 4 mph faster than the actual speed with the stock 17" wheels and tires. So I wonder how many fake miles I have on the truck now.. hmmm...

Tell me about it. But your right about throwing all the other calculations off. Granted my truck gets a little worse gas mileage in the winter, but it seems a little too much worse. I'll have to wait until summer. I know what I should be getting out of a tank in the warm weather.

Its not a whole lot. If I remember correctly, Honda's were off about the same as ours and Honda gave owners an extra 1200 miles onto their warranty.
