To Nismo or not to Nismo...

...that is the question.

Hey guys, wanted to ask why or why you didn't get the Nismo Frontier.

I'm going back and forth on getting a Nismo, or just getting the SE.

I like the suspension and styling on the Nismo, but would it be better and cheaper to just get it aftermarket??

I would plan on adding the chromed mirrors if it got the SE, but I really don't know how much i would use the locker... i definatly want the limited slip, but you can get that on the SE anyway...

Let me know what you think!!

I'd say go for the Nismo. It comes with nicer seats, bigger tires, better wheels, stiffer shocks, skid plates, and of course the locker. After using the locker for the first time, i don't know how i'd go back to an open-diff. If you dont do much offroading though, I'd say you could get by with an SE and some appearance mods. I've tried just the ABLS offroad and it works ok, but it is a bit slow to react and doesnt begin to compare to having a locker

If ya don't offroad much and you aren't looking at getting a KC 6spd the LE comes with alot more practical standard features and a better ride for about the same price, but I do like the chrome on the NISMO! And all crew cabs, be they SE, NISMO or LE come with the spray on bedliner. Good luck the bottom line is you will love it no matter which model you choose!!

Just went through the same decision process. I ended up with a SE 4x4 with ABLS. I do have a dedicated offroad rig though, so Frontier was not intended for serious offroad use. Besides the locker, there was nothing on Nismo that really attracted me and was worth paying more $$$ for. The only difference in suspension are the shocks, that are easy to replace. I'd rather get aftermarket skid plates or fab them myself, as Nismo ones appear to be very thin, one-time-use-only.

I went through the same process a couple of months ago, though I do not think that I researched it as much as I should have, which is unusual for me. I couldn't go with the LE because I never could get comfortable with the look of the roof rack.

Since I plan on keeping this truck for about 20 years, I went with the Nismo mainly for the seat. The locker, skid plates and the computer were nice to have and a good value for the price difference, but not really things that I needed. I knew I wanted the upgraded suspension as well, but that can be added later to the SE. I also liked the wheels and tires on the NISMO better than either the SE or the LE.

All in all, I wish that I had checked out the seat in the SE more than I did. On the other hand, I did get a lot of extras for a fair price. So, the bottom line is that I am happy with my choice even though the dealer had to do a dealer trade so I had to pay a little more than I planned to get the NISMO.

Also, beware that the NISMO has Charcoal interior. That one caught me by surprise, but I am starting to get used to it and I am actually starting to like it.

Well a 6 speed is a must, it's all that i have owned. I would also like a crew cab, but it bothers me that there is no 6 speed CC nismo

So the decision is really between the KC Nismo or the CC SE...

How do people with SE's feel about thier seats, is there only a material differance? or does the NIsmo have bigger bolsters??

well..... after driving both I really like the NISMO. There were just things I really wanted. I DID want the locker, pickups just down go that well and it would come in really handy and quite frankly the first time I got stuck in the snow or didn't make it up something it'd drive me nuts. I like the wheels and tires. I also do some small moving jobs and need to tie things down in teh bed quite often so the frame rails iinside the bed were just wonderfull. I like the interior 10x better than the others. I wish I had the RF stereo but that's easily changed. HOnestly I need to drive this truck for a long time so little thing I could get on it to keep me the happiest for the longest makes a big difference. Quite honestly the NISMO looks better to me, and after the truck has some age on it I need it to still apeal to me becasue if it doesn't then I'm not going to be happy driving it.

sorry for all the typos.
