Nismo Diff Lock

Guys,

Can someone give me some details about the Nismo Frontier rear diff lock.

Currently I can not find an aftermarket locker in Aust. So I'm thinking about sourcing a factory one from the US.

Are they an Eaton E-Locker?

Any details like axle spline numbers would be appreciated.

No they are not Eaton units. They are made by GKN's drive line division. You can't order just the locker anyways, its a whole axle assembly. Meaning when somene has a locker go bad, Nissan replaces the whole axle.

Thanks Peck that's a start.

I found an Aust distributor for GKN. Would you know a part number for the axle assembly?

they would probably want more than it is worth. you might be better off getting a custom axle made if you are goingto go through all that trouble to swap an axle.
i just had a custom front done for $7k. a rear would be less, and you would have a stronger axle with a better locker.

They dont make them for the D40 yet. And they do seem to be going to anytime soon.

I'm still hoping to get the diff centre only. Other wise I will have to wait for ARB to pull there finger out and release a D40 air locker.

I also have been thinking about having an Eaton E-locker machined to suit the D40 axles.

We could always try to import a diff from a wreck.

Hi Bushy good to see you again.
Do they have any idea if the locker will suit both open and LSD?

Back in late 2006 I enquired to ARB corp on when a Locker of the D40 would be released and the response was 2nd quater 2007. But I brought a R51 Pathy so i didn't follow it up.

Now I have a D40 I sent another enquire to ARB corp on a release date, also pointing out that they released a locker for the BT-50 / Ranger even tho the D40 still out sells there combined sales.

There response was BS, they are looking into it. How hard is it to take an already proven part (locker) and have it machined to accept the splines of a D40 axle.

Anyway that my little rant about ARB....
