My recommendation is to call Nissan directly; the number is 800-NISSAN1. I would ask to speak with a district manager or have one return your call immediately if not available. Nissan can force a dealer to make the repairs. I would also tell the phone operator about the urgency of this call since your truck is being kept by the dealer. Ensure that you mention to the manager that you did NOT give them authorization to make the repairs.

what noise was it making? sorry if i am late to the party.

The noise it was making was a rattle or buzz, somewhat of a grinding noise occuring mostly in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears, though it would happen in any gear. The gas pedal would have to be nearly all the way down, and the rpm range would be right around 3k.
It sounded like it was coming from behind the dash board. Initially I thought it was an engine problem. Then club Frontier helped me out, because somebody else had the same exact noise, took them long time to figure it out, and their dealer fixed the problem under warranty. I thought i could bring them all the information that would help them find a solution to this problem, but they will not accept any outside info. Nissan is denying that there are any problems with these clutches, however I spoke with Cherry Hill Nissan and they told me that there is an issue with them, maybe not the most common problem, but it is out there. He knew exactly what had to be done. I told gave him the diagnosis, my noises, my RPM range, etc. He said it was probably the same exact thing that he fixed. He fixed the other truck a while ago, but as soon as I mentioned my problem, he knew right away. If i brought my truck to any other dealer, it would be fixed. I believe the service Manager at Advantage now just has a grudge, and doesnt want to be wrong. At this point I think its his pride that is costing me this money. They even had the balls to make up a story about my tires being worn out to the Nissan rep. When i spoke to the rep he said "Sir, one of your tires was replaced with the spare tire, because there is a different tire on the spare. They think you were burning the tires out." On 9/11/07 (hard for me not to remember that day) on my way to work I blew out my tire, ended up just swapping tires and getting a used one for my spare. In any case I still have the tire with a big hole in it, sitting in my back yard. Why the hell would they just start making up stories like that. I feel like throwing the tire through their office. (but im not, dont think that will help my case). I also asked the regional rep for his boss, because this guy knew nothing, was not a technician, and when I asked what can be done if this is not resolved, even in the event that I pay for the repair and I still have a problem, the guy said "Nissan can do nothing for you." My reply was "why did I buy a Nissan then?" This man only read what the dealer had told him, and had nothing to dispute my claims. He told me that I can find whatever I want to find on the internet, but that has nothing to do with me. I asked him how two people can have the same problem and again he tried to shut me down. I then asked him if he was a mechanic or a technician and he told me no. "why am i then speaking to you?" it was a complete waste of time. Now im going to the dealer and asking for the owner of the dealership, I think he should know how screwed up his service dept. is.

This sounds immensely frustrating; I had a problem with my dealer recently too; but at least they came around in the end. I wish you the best of luck; I hope it gets resolved so you can just have your truck back... in the end, that was all I wanted; was just to get my truck back. But I guess at some point you have to ask yourself if it's worth it. I hope they do the right thing by you. Keep us posted....

Hey NHS,
It sounds like something is going on here. I don't understand why your truck would not be fixed under the warranty. No excuse would satisfy me. I am not sure what the deal is but they are basically jerking you around for some reason or another. Maybe they feel if they screw you around a little while and wear you down, then they'll save a couple thousand dollars not fixing it under warranty. It appears as if you have made your case and they have made theirs, and it doesn't look like anyone is going to work with you. Here is the only advice i can suggest... If you are lucky enough to have an attorney in the family, know an attorney, or even know someone who knows an attorney, have them write a letter on behalf to these characters you have been dealing with. Make sure it is on the firms letterhead, and simply have the attorney say something along the lines that he has reviewed the case and feels as if you have grounds to potentially file suit, blah blah blah... It doesn't have to be a great proclamation of pending litigation, just something to say that you have gotten an attorney and it's go time. He/She may only charge 50 bucks or so to do it. You have to look at it from Nissans point of view. They are about making profit, any successful business is. The less warranties they have to fill the better. If they jerk around 20% of warranty claims and half of them give in, then they have made money. When they see the attorney letterhead on the letter, they immediately realize that it will be more expensive to fight with you than it would be to fix the d@mn truck. To argue it out in court they still have to pay their own attorney and potentially lose. Even if they compromise and only release your truck, you can have it fixed elsewhere and not contribute a dime to these guys pocket. Would be better than nothing. Good luck man and hope this helped... |

Once again, thank you for the help. One could only imagine the frustration.
Here's the deal. I broke down and told them to fix it, assuming im going to hear the noise again, and then just dispute the charges with my credit card company. Im picking up the truck today. I MAY REALLY NEED A LAWYER! GET THIS! They give me a slip for a free rental at enterprise when my truck was there over night. Now 20 days later they tell me NISSAN is not going to cover the rental because it was out of warranty. I WAS NEVER INFORMED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE RENTAL, EVEN IN THE EVENT THAT IT WAS A WARRANTY ISSUE! THEY DIDNT TELL ME ANYTHING OTHER THAN HERE'S THE VOUCHER, BRING THIS TO ENTERPRISE. This is criminal what they are trying to do. thanks again for your help.

That's really all I can say. Stick with it, NHS, don't let them get away with it. If they get away with it with you, they'll just keep on doing it to other people... but if you get their attention; you might save someone else this grief in the future. It's too late to save it from yourself

We, as in nissan Brutal? My truck was finished today, I returned the rental yesterday and picked up my truck today.
On the reciept from Advantage it says "RENTAL IS NOT NOT COVER BY NISSAN." total parts ....$255.41 labor............$1056.00 rental fee......$1085.00 taxes ..........$115.52 total is over $2500 now for a $250 clutch that should have been warrantied. I didnt even need the rental, I took it because they gave me a free voucher.
