I have the same problem that has been somewhat prevelant in the manual Fronty's. There has been plenty of write ups and complaints regarding the issue. I spoke with another dealer (the foreman) who actually fixed the same vehicle, same problem under warranty. Said that i dont just have a worn clutch and that it was a mechanical defect or improper istallation from the factory.
My dealer refuses to speak to the man, or acknowledge that there is any outside possibiltiy that there was a defect. In the meantime they are trying to sail me down the river with a $1200 bill and are holding my truck ransome. I have had this problem since new, they never found a problem, until i actually drove a tech and he heard the noise. I did not know what the problem was myself till i did the research on here. It was the same exact problem that some people actually found a solution to. Other people sadly, sold the fronty. Are there any Tech's out there who can help? Anybody know of recalls, TSB's, bulletins or campaigns? There obviously should be if not. Thanks for the help, sorry for the whining, but this is one expensive headache that makes me sick because of all the research and evidence I have backing me. The dealer just tells me not to concern myself with other people because everybody has different driving styles. I ask them how my driving style warped a clutch? The disc is worn at some points and not others. Everybody has different driving styles. (but the same exact issue)!

I have a 6M and have tracked this Board for recalls and trends. The manual has had issues but not rising to the level of a recall or a consistent pattern of failure.
All auto repair places OEM or otherwise solicit consent from the truck owner before commencing repairs. I presumed you gave your OK so they have the right to hold a mechanic's lien on the truck. It sucks. However, if you did not consent, they cannot hold your truck.

Read your warranty book and see what's covered and what's not covered. You will probably have to take your case up with a regional manager. Just make sure you have all of your ducks in a row if you expect to prevail.

When i first brought the truck in, I asked the service advisor if it would be covered under warranty. He said yes, then he dissapeared for a week. In the interrim, the manager calls me up for consent to inspect the clutch. I never gave them permission to fix it, nor did they yet. I gave permission to inspect, but that will cost me big dollars any way. My trans. is on a dolly, my exhaust is down, clutch out. The car will never be the same, but i doubt replacing the clutch will solve the issue, which will be in my favor, except i have to fight again. I was trying to avoid all of this.

Right now, with the tranny broken down, virtually all the labor is done. You may be able to force them to replace the old clutch, but that does not help you.

you need to find and print info, past complaints brought up about this etc and talk to the regional parts and service manager. Youll need his contact info from either Nissan or the service manager, if they give it to you. I would ask for it to be goodwilled as unless its a definitive parts failure, or in some cases Ive seen 2 xs bolts loosing up the clutch pressure plate where it attaches to flywheel\, and flywheel bolts to crank. These were covered under warranty, but you desciption is generally not in the "part failure" catagory but in the "abuse" catagory. wether purposful, or from letter little brother/sister "learn" how to drive a stick. If you signed the repair order or write up sheet that theyre supposed to get every customer to sign when leaving any car for work, you gave consent and this includes both written and verbal per phone conversations. Laws vary state to state but this is the general situation with any shop. And you have to pretty much pull the trans to inspect the clutch to diagnose a fault and to determine either customer pay or warranty. The only time this "wear" item would be covered without much fuss is under the adjustment priod when adjustments or replacement of normal wear item are covered under warranty is usually a 6month 6000miles, or 12/12. premature brake pad, tire and clutch wear and alignments are usually all covered under this period, but it varies. So remeber to be calm, stae facts with written backup, and ask for their help without demands are your best bets

Thanks for all your help. Im going to need it. I just dont see how it could be me burning out the clutch if #1 I heard this noise since a few hundred miles, #2 the truck drove fine, even when I brought it in, it was just making that same noise. #3 the diagnosis as to what the problem was is exactly the same as several others out there. Again i spoke to the foreman at Cherry Hill Nissan and he confirmed that he fixed Dwarrens' fronty and that it seems like a burnt out clutch, but from further inspection, he found the defect.
My dealer will not inspect further. The manager at ADVANTAGE told me "Is it likely that there is something wrong causing this...no, is there an outside chance that there is...YES, but we can only do one thing at a time, and for now we can only replace what we see wrong." I understand everybody's point of view, im just upset I waited this long to have it looked at. Mainly because I hate going back to the dealer. And mainly because they never do anything right in the first place. And mainly cause i love the truck, but the relationship aint going too well. Dont know if i can marry her now! Thanks brothers and sisters.

Then The Question Is Did You Bring This Too Their Attention "in Writing" Either From You Or On A Previous Repair Order As A Concern? If So You Have An Arguement That Youve Been Concerned Of The Noise From The Start And Brought It Too Their Attention But Nothing Has Been Done Yet Until They Could Try To Get You To Pay For Repairs............so Start Calling Nissan Consumer Affairs, And Then Wait For Their Response, It Wont Take But A Day Or 2 At Best, And Then Bbb Or Better Yet Go To Sema.org And Read Up On Warranties, Complaints Etc And How To Handle In The Consumers Online Section. They Also Have Phone Numbers And Contacts Youll Need
