If I remember right it is illegal to buy a used catalytic converter. I used this website to buy the last one I need and there prices are pretty cheap ConverterGeek

This isnt just a California thing. You should see what the theives are doing to get their hands on copper. Its like gold now. At job sites you really need to watch your back when you have 10 sticks of it for a job. I ran some mexican down once with my partner coming out of a model home. Good thing he tripped when he dropped a stick, he "paid" for it.

you dont sell them for use, you re-use the catalyst inside, its actually worth about a grand if you have about 10....

here in NC anyway, you cannot buy a cat out of a junkyard due to law. (hence the above statement of not being able to buy used)

here in Tennessee, a cat is worth about 250 bucks. They are getting stolen like crazy! My bro-in-law caught some guy under his dodge, on a creeper with a torch. He didn't call the cops but says he dealt with the problem in his own way. I seriously would have mine taken off if i wasn't scared it would screw something up on the truck!

just read in local paper, 5 stolen this week alone..all trucks,easier to crawl under i guess..this and drilling the bottom of gas tank.i dont know..and i live in the suburbs.really in the middle of nowhere..lol
