MPG report

In case you're interested...

We traveled about 1300 miles from Columbus, OH to the Black Hills towing a pop-up camper. The tow vehicle was an '08 Frontier, 6 cyl, crew cab. The trailer weighs 1850 pounds dry weight. We had a few hundred extra pounds of gear in the trailer, bed, and back seat area. I used 91 octane for the trip.

Going west we went through Chicago, up to I-90 and over to the Black Hills. The mpg was 18.1 with significant headwinds some of the time. Also, it seems the entire state of Minnesota is uphill from east to west. Nothing drastic, just seems we were on a gentle climb most of the time.

The mpg for the trip back was an impressive 19.9. The route home was through northern Nebraska to I-80, I-74, and I-70. We had a bit of tail wind but nothing comparable to the head winds we experienced on the way out. We had about 250 extra pounds of petrified wood in the bed on the return trip (I love the stuff).

I didn't go real fast. When the terrain was relatively flat and I set the cruise to about 62 mph.

Pretty impressive truck, and better than I expected when I bought it. I would buy it again, no questions.

Not bad at all considering you were pulling a trailer.

I'll bet MPG is the most searched term on the forum.

I get a consistant 22.1 mpg. Then again, I drive a consistant route, and don't get 'on it' much at all.

SE crew 4x4.

Lucky, lucky, On a daily average i get 13.3 AS of these new 285/70 tires it has increased .1 almost every time i drive. (i work from home so i only drive to store or offroad >.<) so its usually small quick trips. im up to 13.9 now

When i get going on the hywy its up to about 17.4 on a LONG trip over 65 mph CONSTANTLY if im slower the MPG is worse.

Oh yeah, and im not towing anything >.< (i drive with VDC and OD off in city and VDC off and OD on on hwy)

Seems my truck likes it fast when im at low throttle it just pisses fuel right out.

Very good for towing a trailer!

I'm finally starting to see 17 city. Work 9 miles from home all side streets. Will finally hit 15K miles on my 06 sometime this month.

That is what I got when I took a 5,000 mile trip towing about 2000lbs. Worst was 16 and best was 19.3. I'm averaging now 16-17 mostly city.
