Loud Fan Noise/Whine

So it's been ridiculously hot and humid around here for last several days (high 90's to low 100's). We went on a camping trip with the trailer and because of the heat we had to have the A/C on the whole time.

The truck did fine, the gauges all stayed normal and no overheating or signs of any issues. When we got home and were unloading I heard a very loud and unsual fan noise (more of a whine) over top of the normal A/C compressor fan noise. It was a sound I've never heard from my truck before so it concerned me.

Any ideas?

my 2008 has a aux electric fan in the upper passenger side of the radiator it is controled by air cond settings and engine temperature thru IPDM and ECU. Mine only blows in Hi mode with air on and stopped on very warm days.

Is it noticably louder than when just the engine cooling fan runs?

+1, most likely that was it. It's quite loud, even inside the truck, when it comes on. Outside it's just crazy loud. That little fan pulls a lot of air!
