I have the volant since it has very good low end response and overall performance is excellent. Only fully sealed box CAI. Injen is also pretty good, but it has filter screens that allow some warm engine air to enter. Aem is open filter. Depends what you want. you can get volant for about $260 on autoanything.com with the fullsizechevy discount code.

thanks for the replies.
so how does an open vs closed make a difference in performance. i understand that the open would most likely have a heat shield but it still would let some hot air. which would give more of an economy deal, i have to sell this to my wife so i have to say its better for milage, lol.

See, I'm too much of a scrooge for that. I refuse to pay hundreds of dollars for an aluminum tube, lol. I used the K&N drop in filter and honeycombed the bottom of my air box with a 3/8" drill bit while I was in there. The air is not as cold as a CAI, because it's still coming from inside the engine bay, but the comibation of the K&N and the increased air flow gave me impressive power gains on the low end, and a nice throaty growl when I step on the gas (well, that and the fact that I used half a bottle of Sea Foam in the intake, hehe). I guess I'm just stingy like that :P
