Lock your tailgates!!!!

I was sitting in the garage last weekend on the tailgate of my truck and something looked wrong. The bolts on the passenger side of the tailgate are gone!!! The cable is just swinging by a thread. So I dont know if I was the victim of foul play or Nissan in not getting the bolt tight in there. Now I have to explain to the dealer and try and find 2 bolts. So bottom line lock your tailgates and check the bolts every now and again.

Sorry to hear that you are having issues with your tailgate. I would have to say it would be some vandal trying to get a free tailgate. From what I've seent those bolts are usually very secure. I always keep the tailgate locked just because I've heard of them getting stolen. Why anyone would steel one is beyond me but I guess they are worth something to someone beside the truck owner!!

The same thing happened to me when I was taking my truck in for a service. The bolt on the drivers side was gone. I don't think they tighten them very well from the factory or maybe being new they slowly work themselves out.

Just tell your dealer what happened. My dealer gave me a replacement bolt right away.

Yup some thing. Passanger side fell off and drivers side was loose. Had to go to a hardware store and get new ones. I put locktight on them and they have been fine since. I don't think the tighten them all that well.
