Liquid Noises near Heater Core?

Folks,

I have a 2010 4L SE that I just recently noticed noises coming from near the heater core. The noises are definitely liquid moving and happens whenever I am stopped and begin to accelerate. Is this normal for the Frontier? I has never happened on any other car I have owned. The temperature reading is nromal so do you think it could be A/C refirgerant or coolant? I have not noticed any leaks anywhere so need help.

I'd check your coolant reservoir under the hood, and see what the level is. Might be running low, and because of that there's air in the system.

If you park on an incline you'll get this problem even with "adequate" coolant.

I keep mine filled quite a bit over the high line. Be careful, the reservoir is under pressure, you can only fill it cold.

I just bought a 2012 a week ago, under 9k miles on it and it had made a faint gurgle a time or two. Maybe these heater cores are just a bit more noisy? I have plenty of coolant in there... It's nowhere near as loud as a low or leaky heater core though... I'm not really worrying about it.

Welcome to the Frontier....Mine has always done it. Seems that somehow air always ends up in the system...or that's what any mechanic will tell you. Do you use your heat often? If you have not already had the issue of your heat only working when your RPM's are up, you will probably run into it soon too. Overfill your reservoir. You will probably still get that gurgling noise, but your heater will keep working even at idle..lol

My 2010 did it a lot. The 2012 just barely noticeable.

I park on an incline on a regular basis. Just wish I could get it nose up instead of nose down to stop this. I keep mine cold 2" above the max line and it seems to do better.

Its low on coolant plain and simple. The only way to check properly is with the engine cold and running. Start the motor when its cold and add coolant in the res until its at the full line and replace the cap. Run the motor until it reaches operating temp and it will cycle the coolant. It will likely take multiple separate fills when the motor is cold to get it up to the proper level. Just do it every morning until you can start it cold and the res doesn't need topping up.

Thanks! I am going to add coolant as soon as I get home. I am curious to know why it gets low as I have looked everywhere for leak coolant and even just changed out the headers and did not see anything. I know the reservoir overflow was low so the coolant may be low and I guess it si just something unique to the Frontier 2010.
