So today I was looking into my high oil pressure problem. The problem started shortly after installing the IMS so I figured that would be a good place to start. I took off the IMS to check the gaskets... not good. they are all breaking apart. I know some of the gasket material got into the motor because it was all over the place. I took my time making sure all of the gaskets were in place and well seated prior to the install. My thumbs were sore for a week. There was a bit of oil in the area too. Maybe I had blow by that weakened the gaskets? or the gaskets caused the blow by, I don't know. But needless to say the IMS is off my truck right now and I'm kinda pissed. I think maybe some of you with an IMS might want to check your gaskets and see how they are doing. It could be that the gaskets aren't handling the heat from the spacer very well.

Yup, your gaskets are hosed. I though the kit came with OEM gaskets? Did you use a different type of material?
The big question is: does the high oil pressure indicate that flow is not getting to the entire engine? It seems this is true. Being pissed is understandable.
Yeah, I used the gaskets that came with the IMS. I still have the oil pressure prob. so, I gotta take it in to the dealer. That is one of the reasons I took off the IMS. I didn't want it on there when I took it in. I have heard of some others having the same problem with the pressure reading high and it ended up being a sensor or something. Scary none the less.

these are the factory gaskets so the heat transfer is not an issue as in stock form they are seated against aluminum in the lower intake manifold.
I'm wondering if something was (and not saying it's anyone's fault) not installed properly? This of course has my attention considering the condition of the gaskets. Thank god they are replaceable.
Please follow up with me and let me know what the dealer determines the problem is with the high oil pressure
more like did something get sprayed on them like spray lube or brake or carb cleaner? We have different cleaners at work that flat out destroy o ring gaskets if we spray on them like when trying to find vacuum leak or suspect may have one. And yes we know it does this through experience.

No, nothing came in contact with the gaskets prior to, or during install, because I thought about that while thinking maybe I should use something on them to get them to squeeze into the seating channels easier, but I didn't want to take a chance with anything having a corrosive effect on them. In stock form the gaskets are only touching aluminum on one side. With the IMS they are in contact with aluminum on both sides. So it's not the same heat transfer as stock. They are sandwiched by aluminum. The gaskets on the intake plenum are still fresh as a daisy.

i think the gaskets weren't all in when they went on, They look like they are smashed so they haven't been straight when it was installed plus it was recent to when you installed it. looks like some heat seeped in from where it wasn't in place and blasted them. Good luck though, might check mine later but seem to have no problems. Plus from one side you can see the gaskets just a bit so ill check that first.
