impressed by my nismo

Tuesday night I drove almost 200 miles through a freezing rain / snow storm, with out a problem the roads had any where between a thin coating to 3 inches of slush on them. I switched the 4 wheel drive on and kept the speed between 40 and 50 miles an hour and averaged over 17 miles to the gallon. I was passing snow plows who were going along at 35 miles an hour. I didn't have the guts or lack of sense to try and keep up with the semis who thought they could do between 60 and 70 but I did pass two of them that had spun out further down the road after they had passed me. At one point my wipers stopped working so I pulled off the road and check the fuses they were all good. What I did find was there was so much ice on the hood and windshield where the wipers go down to that they could not complete theit downward swing and just stopped. I fixed them by removing all the ice from under them and between the hood and the windshield. When I got out the truck a large sheet of ice broke off the side of the truck . The whole front end of the truck was covered by a 3/4" sheet of protective ice. It was nice to drive such a stable truck on those types of roads. Tonight and tomorrow we are in blizzard watch, I am looking forward to playing in the snow in the morning. They are prediciting up to 20 inches over the weekend.

Best of advice I can give is slow down use the 4wheel drive and plan your moves and the moves of those around you.

Thanks and have fun

Where do you live at? I'm in Council Bluffs IA, across the river from Omaha. I love drivin in the snow, allways have even when I had a two wheel drive truck. Now that I have a 4x4 I have even more fun. I'm tired of snow though, ready to be able to keep my truck clean for a while.

I only have 2 WD and have made it through a rough winter with no problems. It is by far the best 2 WD traction wise I've ever owned and is quite stable driving down a snowy road. The only time I got stuck is when I backed into a snow bank and high-centered it. I dug it out with an ice scrapper becasue that's all I had with me.

I am about 40 miles east of cleveland Ohio. this morning I blew 8 inches out of the drive and before I was done there was a half inch where I had started. We are in blizzard watch until 4am sunday. should make for a fun weekend.

You want to be careful when passing a plow. Lots of accidents happen in this way. I usually just sit behind the plow, it's much safer.

This is a familiar story-I had the same thing happen to me around December and it was the first time I pulled someone out using my truck. He passed me because I was doing 40mph on a 70mph highway and I watched him spin into the median. It was a 90's model chevy 4x4 2500. Lots of ice that night and I couldn't have been happier with the performance of my truck.
