Better yet, keep the receipt for the oil, filter, crush washer and keep the mileage. Attach it all to a piece of printer-paper. Use a 3-hole punch and keep it in a binder. If you keep everything you do in order by mileage and date with receipts, you will keep almost any dealer satisified. The more organized you are, the easier it will be to keep track of what maintance/repairs you have had done and also the more likely the dealer will trust you.

Think about this: You go into the dealer talking about an issue. They check it out and then tell you because of lack of maintance. You then pull out a binder with all the records in it and ask them which maintance they are refering to. As long as you follow the manual, you should be golden. They are going to be more then likely making the repairs free of charge to you.

Word of caution on some of the receipts from cash registers. They will fade with time and heat will turn them black as it is typically a thermal process to print it in the first place. The last idea is a good one, but it might be worth photocopying or scanning the receipts for longevity.

This might be out of topic but, I never had done an oil change with a crush washer until last week. When I was tightening the drain plug with washer, I heard a snap/crack sound. I am not that strong so... is this supposed to happen? I am wondering if it's the washer.

So my brand new frontier was leaking oil

My 08 Nismo Frontier was leaking oil and only had 200 miles on it when I bought it. I noticed it starting to leave small spots on the driveway so I looked underneath and my skid plate was covered in oil and the truck was about a 1/2 quart low on oil. I was pretty pissed but went to the dealer and come to find out my VTC Valve had NO gasket on it from the factory.

So they pulled it off and put a new gasket in, now she dosn't leak. But seriously WTF? How did they just NOT put the gasket on lol. Oh well, alls well the ends well. Just happy that it was something minor.

could be that the crush washer was across the threads and snapped into place I suppose.

Is it leaking at all?
