Angry I hate the dealer...

I just did my first oil change on my truck the other day at 3,750 miles and as soon as I got under the truck I noticed oil all over the skid plate. I did my oil change and then took it into the dealer and they just tried to tell me that it was a loose drain plug and they half a$$ cleaned my skid plate off. As soon as I got home, I looked under there a little closer and you can see the oil is coming from somewhere higher up on the motor...I guess I'll just drive it around more until it gets covered underneath again and take it back...

That's why it's better to do it yourself. If you must take it to the dealer, check underneath before you accept the truck. If it's not clean, ask them to clean it.

I did do the oil change myself, but the service advisor didn't believe me and said I didn't tighten the drain plug. I told him I'll see you soon...

Which skid plate? The trans/transfer or the engine/radiator?

Is it oil left over from draining the filter?

This is exactly what I am thinking. It can't be the drain plug because that is behind the engine/radiator skid.

OP: Did you remove the skid to remove the filter or did you use the access hole and reach through the passenger wheel well?

No, as soon as I got under the truck I saw it all over before I even started the oil change.

Yea, I know it's definatley not the drain plug, I can see oil coming from somewhere higher up above the skid plate...I can't tell where it's coming from. I don't know why they didn't just put some dye in it and have me drive around for a week and come back...

Wow. I guess you will need to go back to the dealer in that case.
