SFX Performance has this on sale for $204

Nissan Frontier Speedometer Calibrator - New - Stock Available - Hypertech

Fitment Guide
2005-2008 Nissan Frontier Pathfinder & Xterra

Description
Hypertech 730106
Speedometer Calibrator by Hypertech.

Features for the In-Line Speedometer Calibrator:
· Tire Size: No Limit
· Gear Ratio: No Limit
· Corrects speedometer reading
· Corrects odometer signal
· Includes CD with instruction manual and Tire Configuration software

I know this seems expensive, but after a couple thousand dollars of lift, wheels, tires, etc. It seems like recalibrating the speedo is the right thing to do. Is this device really the only option?

I just do the conversion in my head...for free. 6% off at 75 on the speedo means I'm doing 80. great, now that I know that, add 5 to whatever I'm going and I'm safe. and I wouldnt say thousands in lift and tires. hair over a grand, max.

I think the speed in the head is easy enough, once you know what 35, 45, and 65 are then you know if you are speeding or not, and don't really need to convert in head. But the bigger issues is your odometer, mpg calculation, warrenty, etc. Also some have indicated that the computer may be using that invalid data to manage fuel and shifting.

Here's How It Works!

The vehicle computer calculates your vehicle's speed based on the diameter of the stock tires. If you've installed taller or shorter tires, or changed the rear axle ratio, the vehicle computer doesn't know how fast your vehicle is really going. As a result, the automatic transmission may not shift correctly and the speedometer/odometer readings will not be accurate (as required by law). The Hypertech Power Programmer III lets you select different tire sizes and rear gear ratios, then stores that information in your vehicle computer. And that's just the beginning!

Yea, maybe if you've got a mini-lift and tires your in it for a grand, but if you've done a larger PRG Lift, Fabtech 6", and/or a body lift plus wheels and tires your easily in for 2 grand, maybe 3.

It must have been a while ago, cause there are vendors all over the internet selling this product, and their website clearly lists our truck. But I have not checked every year and configuration.

well, fuel management would still be based on rpm, maf and pedal position I would imagine, speed isnt required to be part of the equation (not saying it isnt but it doesnt need to be). Shift points are determined by me (in my case) so thats not a problem...not that I shift by speed anyway)

it works pretty well. the exhaust tones match the speed range as before the tire wheel change and the odometer is within .2 miles over the distance i commute. its easy to put in an insures that your odometer stays pretty true. I wanted it for that and for the speed, so it was worth every penny to me.
