How to turn off the tire pressure sensor?

06' frontier XE 4cyl 5speed

For some reason, whenever I turn my car on the tire pressure light blinks for a minute then turns on solid. Checked the psi of my tires (on multiple occasions) and it's at the recommended 35, I even tried to overfill the psi and the light still didn't go off.

At 35psi, i drove miles and miles to no avail. I give up on this tpm system. Is there any way to completely disable it?

electrical tape over the light would disable it, there are a couple of threads here for DIY "reprogramming" if you will. Search TPMS and you should find it

fill them to 40PSI then go for a drive. make sure to get up to road speed for a few min. that should reset the light. then you can drop the pressure some.

If the light is blinking then you have a bad sensor.

If the light is blinking, its means there had been an error in
the system and it has stored a code. Nine times out of ten, the sensors just need to be re-registered, but this means a trip to the dealer (they are the only ones with the tools to do it).

Or you have had the same sensor re-registered every couple months until they tell you that you need a new sensor.

my TPMS light will not go off either. All tires are 35-36 psi. 68k miles and this has never happened before.

Depends on the dealer, just to register the sensors usually 20-45$. Call first and get a quote.

brett3116-if the light flashes when you first start the vehicle, there its a error in the system. If the light just comes on solid, you're pressure is off (see garbage pressure gauge).
