Ive run mine until the DTE said 0 and I went a few miles further. I still only fit just shy of 17 gallons. I think my truck has an 18 gallon tank.

your truck has a 21.1 gallon tank just like the rest of us (rtfm if you dont believe me). the DTE has a HUGE built in safety factor...mostly to protect the fuel pump but also because they dont want you running out before it says -0- and getting stranded somewhere then trying to sue them.

i dont understand isnt the fuel pickup at the bottem of the tank anyways. the fuel pump is in a fixed position right at the bottem of the tank right? so it alway pulls fuel from the bottem? i dont really think theres that much heavy solids in the bottem my fuel tank..like sand or....metal..wtf...

but i do agree with the fuel keeping the pump cool makes sense to me..

back on subject i always try to fill at least before a quarter tank unless i have to stretch it to the next station...

CoastalDefender: the nismos and the le's have a little trip computer with DTE, MPG, Average MPH, Running time.....did i miss any.... Its in the spot where your ODO and trip are...you just cycle through for more options.

Never mind the fact there are a series of filters also. I guess we all still believe we drive early domestics.

Wow, having run out of gas allot in my youth ( read: broken gage on junker cars and no $ in wallet), I'm anal about my fuel level now. I RARELY let it get below 1/2 and am down right obsesed if I get to 1/4". I figure it costs the same to keep it full as empty anyway.

Ok in the Navara we dont have the luxury of DTE so I go by my Scangauge, Fuel light comes on with 1/4 tank left usually.Usually fill up about the 65 litre point (tank is 80 liters) but have gone as far as 5 liters left in the tank and the Scangauge called it right on the money

Well this thread sure grew leggs! FYI my light has only been on this one time and it came on at 10 miles to go and my gage starded flashing. Prolly the only time this will ever happen. I've been driving 36 years and have run out of gas (for real) once. Scotty.
