How low can you go?

I ran my truck down to 7 miles left on the DTE puter today (lite came on at 10) and took 19.38 gals. That leaves what a gal and a half to dead empty?

Keep in mind when filling up the tank, where the gas nozzle stops is not at full tank, it's at least a gallon shy of that. Obviously you can force feed it to the top though

I usually drive mine at least to the point that the DTE starts flashing the lines across it. The most I've put in was 20.2 or 3 IIRC.

I stop when the pump stops the first time...I've put in over 20 gallons (drove about 60 miles after the dummy light came on).

Now, I fill at around 300 miles and always before the light comes on and I never put in more than 17 gallons.

Pretty sure the light should come on about DTE=0 so by that theory, I've gone -60.

x2 on this, you should never run your tank that low.

My truck only has 3200 miles on it and is two months old I don't think there is too much crap in my tank yet. But thanks for your concern Jeff. I wanted to know where the light came on and what my reserve was just in case. I am hauling my boat Sunday and wanted to fill with premium for towing.

not sure how far you can go before running out, but I've gone 50 miles past the DTE saying "0"

Your fuel pump needs fuel surrounding it to help cool it. If you run it too low on a regular basis you will likely shorten the life of the fuel pump. Why chance it?
