With all due respect, this is total rubbish. If this was even half an issue the government would step in...Maybe making all air stations FREE would save a few more lives. They all cost a dollar or more here. And thats if your lucky enough to have quarters
the air is free to use with at gas stations... (at least here in california).
it's not an issue of getting air, it's just nobody cares to check tire pressure. I have functioning tpms just because i hate a lit up dash. i used to use the black tape on the cluster, but after thinking about why i spent $27,000 on a truck vs paying $60 to fix a tpms sensor the $60 is null. BTW, i've spent $120 on TPMS since i had the truck 2006 brand new.
I just got my tmps light turned off at les shuab the either day. Those things miss me off. Almost as much as the auto spell on this phone!!
Speaking of Les Schwab and tpms... I was there to pay my bill today and saw they have notices up that in accordance to some federal regulation on disabling safety features they won't install wheels that don't have the proper tpms sensors on a vehicle equipped with the system.
Honestly, I like the idea of the system, but its ineffective when it doesn't work right. If I am losing air while driving I would like to know before it gets low enough that I can feel the effects. Unfortunately I have already had so many false lights that I have ignored the last few. I regularly check my air pressure and at least look at all 4 tires before getting in the truck every time but that wouldn't help if I were to run over a nail or something right before a long drive.
I would mind having it but would also like it to have the psi gauge posted in the truck. I know they have them you can buy but they are costly. The Hummer H1(the real one) had the best system.
Hi: All... To many collisions/rollovers from improperly inflated tires... I guess. My TPMS gives me a reason, each fall, to go see my tire guy.
TPMS's hate cold and so does my tire guy!!!

Thatnk you Ford Explorer, with added thank's to all the soccer moms who took the low tire pressure ratings and ignored them into really low tire pressures and then drove them until the tires went pop. The blowout generally isn't the problem, it is the carcas of the tire wrapping around the rear axle and locking it up that was the problem. Think of doing 70MPH on ice and have someone lock up the park brake when you least expect it. This adds in why you don't see the old style mechanical limited slips as much anymore as well.
The someone (probably in California) went crying there should be a law to prevent them from being lazy.

You can also thank our government for the mandated tpms bullshyt.
Gynormous headrests, skid, slip control and backup cameras are other recent examples of government intrusion in our lives.

Not to discredit this information but...59% of all statistics are made up unless properly referenced. This increases to 79% on the internet (Internet forums) as 87% of the stats found on "legit" sites are incorrect. Just sayin'!

The government did step in, mandating TPMS is what allows the gas stations to get away with charging for air.
