how to clean bad plastic headlamp housing

anyways, my dad's windstar is getting old, so the headlamps.. it is so cloudy, there's no more light output. so what i did is i cleaned it.

i just wanna share this to you guys if you have some headlamps that is so blurry and cloudy...

first, i bought 1000 grid sandpaper.. its ok if its 2000 grid if it is not bad...

i sand it, and then washed it with water.. let it dry... then i bought some plastic polish/wax.. for 5 bucks... then i polished it... it came out very nice..

here's the pics.. the left is clean already, while the right side of the pics, they are old....

That works or I stick to rubbing compound and wax with a buffer.

Silver... Have you tried drilling a small hole in the bottom of the light so it drains?

Im surprised they even turn on in the rain then? Water makes my bulbs in the foglights burst....thats why i had to replace them not too long ago....You might be forced to just buy a new headlamp....did you damage it offroading?
