Exclamation HELP! Need someone in Connecticut to borrow stock tires and wheels for a test!

I've been having a vibration issue ever since putting on a lift and new tires. The dealer and a tire shop tell me it may be the tires causing the issues, so I need to try putting on stock tires so I can either verify or eliminate the tires as the cause. I've had the tires balanced multiple times so I know an unbalanced tire is not the cause. I either have a bad tire(s) or something else is wrong.

It has got to be the tires!

That being said, I had a problem with the 285/75/16 BFGs - they couldn't get them to balance. Switched to the notoriously-easy-to-balance Nitto TG and problem went away.

So what tires are you on now?

^^^^yeah My Bfg Muds Dont Stay Balanced, Especially After I Go Off Pavement. And Everytime I Bring It In For Rot/balance They Are All Out Of Balance.
But To The Op, Sounds Like It Has To Be The Tires, Considering Many People With That Lift And Lack Of Complaints About Vibrations.

Nitto TG's. The vibration is most noticeable at 40mph and above, and another symptom is that at highway speed my steering wheel shimmies back and forth a little. I had a frozen cam bolt that the dealer fixed, but I'm wondering if the bushing or whatever is in the LCA is possibly messed up because of that.

Have you tried rotating your tires to see if it is just one or both of your front tires that are out of whack?

Just did that last week, along with another alignment and balance. The dealer checked the drive line and said it was good, but I don't think they checked anything else (suspension, steering, etc)in the front end.

I emailed discount tire direct (where I bought the tires), and they called me so on my dinner break I'll return their call and see what they have to say about my situation.

Mud tires never really balance that well. I worked at discount tire, and the bigger mud tires (33+) were usually at least half an ounce out of balance when they left, because we couldn't get it better or ran out of room for weights. I hate to be negative but I think we need to decide if we want a nice ride or better off-roading abilities. If you can have both, great, but it sure sucks for the tire guys to keep working on a modified vehicle...

Send a message via AIM to HKYStormFront
knowing tom's issues i'd say his request is the only way to prove that there is really a problem with his truck. as many times as the wheels/tires have been balanced i'd say there's a good chance they are as close as they can be. someone help a fronty brotha out!!

I talked to a guy at Discount Tire Direct and it looks like I have two options. One, at my expense get a road force evaluation done on the tires, which should indicate a bad tire(s).[My dealer did this when they installed the tires, but they don't usually give that info to customers and they don't save it anywhere. Theoretically if bad numbers came up they should have told me.] If there is a bad tire(s) it would be replaced free of charge, but I would still have to pay for the mounting and balancing of it.

Two, at my expense I would have to purchase four new tires from Discount and mount them up, then send all four old tires to Discount for them to evaluate. If they find a bad tire or tires they would refund me a prorated rate based on the condition of the tires I sent back. I'm not sure if they would cover any of the shipping.

So, as of now I think the best/cheapest option is the first one.
