I have the LE model so I can't go out and look for you, but I don't think that piece needs to be removed. Using your thought I would need to remove my bumper to remove a headlight. There has to be a way to get the light out alone.

Then again I've been wrong in the past. Good luck.

Our tail lights have a blind clip holding half of it and you remove the visible screws and wiggle it out. Maybe the headlight works the same way.

You don't need to remove that piece from what I remember. There's a couple bolts on top from the engine bay. Another bolt you can access by loosen the wheelwell cover and reaching in. And I think another one you can get to by removing the grill.

Another thing I did before unbolting was to trace the bolts onto the housing with a pencil. This helps to line things up as they were when reinstalling. That's if you are going to reinstall them.
