Got a squeaky front end?

This happened to me at around 4500 miles (with our first snowfall...any relation, I don't know) it was squeaking baaad. The front end would make noise on the slightest imperfection in the road. It first came from the right front, I checked the suspension and sway bar bolts which were all fine. Then after a few days the squeak moved over to the left side which led me to think that this could be body related.
A search of the CF database suggested lubing the hood bumpstops...which made sense. My frontier is now silent again.

Just thought I would share for anyone else because it seems like these rubber stops have given a few people a hard time. This saved me from going to the dealer and watching them chase their tails looking for a suspension problem.

I used a spray lithium grease on the "threads" of the stops. The squeaking didn't go away right at first but gradually after a few days.
I'm sure youve tried everything, but don't be stingy with the lube.

i actually cleaned my hood latch once and the noise went away until i was in the dirt again, then came right back---------so not sure if its the actual latch or the rubber stops, but i think its the latch-ill try the rubber stop thing with lube.

YES!

What are the hood bumpstops and where are they located?

Does WD-40 do the trick?

haha, yeah my truck has done that since like 2 weeks after I bought it... I've lubed it several times actually... fixes it for a while... another thing, when it's squeaky like that, if you open then close your hood it usually goes away for the rest of the day/week then comes back...

If the rubber stops don't ..ahem, stop squeaking, try super-gluing a small piece of felt to the bottom of the rubber stops. Just a dime sized piece should do the job, exactly the same diameter as the contact surface of the rubber stop itself. This should prevent any further noise. I was about to do it with mine, but turning the bump-stop out a couple turns seems to have cured it all.

Well this came at a perfect time. Mine just started squeaking the other day and was going to go hunting for it. I'll have to give the hood bump stops a look. Thanks!
