Got rear ended today.

I was out doing some errands and a white van completely cut me off and slammed on his brakes. The traffic ahead was slowing but didn't require such intense braking. I had to hit my brakes so hard I didn't even know if I'd stop in time. ABS kicked in (the road was moist by Top Gear standards), but I was able to stop in time. I just started rolling forward and BAM. A Jeep Patriot hits me from behind. I was at or near a stop and he was probably going 10-15 MPH but rapidly decelerating. Cops came out, insurance was called, and I've already gotten one estimate.

On the upside, I might be able to get the bumper painted body color at no cost to me or upgrade to an aftermarket for the cost of the difference.

On the downside, my neck will probably be hurting the next few days.

Bummer....on the upside you could replace with a shrockworks bumper which would be awesome.

You might also want to include a 2" receiver as part of the repairs. Then add a big 2" ball hitch in the receiver like I do. Anyone who rear-ends me will get a hitch shoved through their radiator for their trouble.
Did the Liberty driver admit he was texting?

and you'll have a bent frame. Hitches and rear-ending in the Frontier = frame damage. Been there

Looking into it, first quote I was giving was $1500 and change. Keep in mind that doesn't include the possibility of finding more damage once they get the bumper off. The chrome bumper assembly alone was $469. I am going to another shop next week to get another quote, but in any event I would probably have to shell out a few hundred for a beefed up bumper... but that's better than $900!

Nothing was said, I am fairly sure he was cited for negligent driving though. I have a buddy in the department so I will find out.

he faired pretty well. The his front bumper doesn't have to be replaced, but it does have a bit of damage. The turn lights popped out, one broke, and the license plate is bent, but all in all he did well.

I don't want that. I do want a hitch though, maybe not with a ball in it at all times though haha.

Get a CT scan, and X-ray of your spine top to bottom. Then see if you can borrow someone's horse collar. Oh my achin' back!!!
