glad i bought a 4x4

went up the mountains yesterday with buddies for hiking trip. midway through the hike, started decent amount of snow fall. no problem for the return trip, just flip the 4x4 switch on the mountain roads. on the way back, saw a couple of rangers trying to pull cars out of the gutter... ops

it was about 200 miles round trip, had the truck in 4wd for ~20 miles in slush/snow, +7000 ft elevation, +mountain roads, i wasnt even cruising down the hill... i was driving decent speed and still averaged over 22mpg.

I had to drive a lady and her little boy about a 1/4 mile up our street the other night. Her 2wd Durango couldn't make it up the hill b/c of snow. She had a back pack, purse, 1yr old in high heels. Sad sight. funny thing is the truck was fine in 2wd, her tires were shot.

I am hoping for some decent snow this winter, just to try out the truck in.

The infant was in high heels!? LOL

We've had snow almost every other day here, more tomorrow. Pretty weird that this all started on the day I bought my new truck but I'm not complaining. It's been fun!

I'm impressed with your 22 MPG. On my last tank I averaged a wopping 15.something MPG. Pretty disapointing but I'm hoping it's just breaking in.
