I had just under 6,000 on the RP I changed yesterday. It was dark but not any worse than usual for me. My boss wants my old oil so he can use it in his car. He changes oil at 7500 miles. I put 5½ quarts in my Frontier.

Nice to see people extending the use of their synthetics, versus keeping with the 3k rule.

That has to be a joke (I hope) or your boss is cheap beyond belief.

He's kind of cheap. His wife spends most of the money. He's quite well off actually. His house is paid for. He likes to drive older vehicles. He has 3 different vehicles but only has a tag on one at a time.

i'd never ever put old oil in my engine, mine was really dark for some reason, i hope the amsoil is a better oil in the long run, right now i have the Xl series oil in my engine but my next fill up will be the 100% synthetic oil, along with the amsoil Ea oil filter.

If you had a hoopty, you might put used oil in it. My boss doesn't buy new cars to drive. The first car he bought when he moved into the area was a 91 Sentra. He paid $500 for it. My used oil is probably just as good or better than what's in it now. Besides, it counts as recycling anyway.

He said that he will probably use that old RP for 2,000 miles.

My buddy just changed the oil in his 02 F150. Drove it 10,000 miles and when he changed it he said it was dark. He also went through 1.5 quarts in the same time frame. He did have 41k on it when he switched to Amsoil. I think he had some sludge build up and that is why it was so dark and possibly why he went through 1.5 quarts. However, he switched back to dino and is getting ready to change again and has loss no oil after 3k. I think he would have been happier if he switched at much lower mileage.

I just switched to amsoil yesterday. So far so good. I'll be sending a sample out for analysis in the fall.
