Cold Air Intakes and winter????

OK, I want to add a CAI to my Fronty. But since I live in the Great North East were temps will soon be a high of the Mid 20's.

So my question is since we are trying to introduce cold air in the gas mix. At what temp is the cold air "too" cold. And will I lose power to having a CAI in the winter.

Thanks for any help.

although a true cai is looking for colder air because cold air is more dense, increased flow helps too.

on a side note, I almost spent a few years in troy...alas I could not afford to pay what they wanted so I went to UMaine instead.

In theory, entrance air can never be too cold. Vaporization may be an issue but that is circumvented by start up circuits. Think about it, in Alaska, when the temperature is -50 F, the 4.0 Liter engine turns into a 5.0 Liter.

Right now the temp here is -30....it's just one great big cold air intake.
Isn't it true that cold air is more dense that warm air, thus giving you greater volume?

I hope the Frontier starts this morning, I didn't even plug her in last night

Bahaha! Yeah, our trucks have asthma. At least its a level playing field though. Forced induction would be especially nice up here.

No. It absolutely does not give you more volume. it does give you more oxygen per cubic foot though so same volume, more oxygen.
