Clunk from front right side when braking

I have a 2007 Nissan Crew Cab SE, and I've notice for the past couple of months very sporadically/inconsistently that there is sometimes a "clunk" that comes from the front passenger side when I'm braking. I don't have be to braking hard for it to do it. In fact, this usually happens when I'm just easing up to a stop. I've tried stopping really hard and that produces no sound. It sounds similar to ABS clunk, but I'm not positive about that.

Has anyone had this happen? Is it brakes? Could it be something under my hood? Wheel lugs? Suspension? Should I take it in to the dealership?

How would that make a sound at the front right side? The parking brake operates the rear brakes.

Yeah, READ the thread first. Sorry, thats what mine turned out to be but the "clunk" was definately from the right REAR not front. Up front it's prolly gonna be your pads or calipers. Is it a 4wd? If so it MAY be more than just a caliper or disc pad

Nope, just 2WD. Sorry, I should have pointed that out. It's just weird that it only does it when braking easy... such as easing up to a stop sign after the guy in front pulls through or going from 1st window to 2nd window in a drive-thru.

I had kind of a simular issue. Mine would only do it under braking if I was turning. And it ended up being loose lug nuts. Thats easy to check too. I would do that first, just to eliminate it. Does it do it every time?

Doesn't do it consistently AT ALL. Seems like it does it worse in the morning, but again it's so inconsistent that I can't say for sure if that's it. I think I will check the lugs though. <<I'm about to get yelled at on here>> I went to the dealership a few months ago and had my locking lugs switched for regular lugs, so maybe they didn't do a good job of tightening the new ones. I had the locking lugs removed because I've known several people that got caught in a bad situation when their lug keys broke. Who is going to steal factory wheels anyway??? I've actually never even heard of anyone having had wheels stolen (in my area).

Maybe as you apply more brake pressure, the piston tightens the pad againsyt the rotor and it stops clunking. As you depress it slightly, it grabs and clunks before slowing or stopping the truck.

Yeah, sounds like a good first step! And we have such a rare bolt pattern, the only other vehical that I know of that shares are bolt pattern is 1999 - 2004 Dodge dakotas. So I'm sure youll be fine with out the key. Let us know what you find out with the lugs being tight or not.
