Bleeding Cooling System

Guys i recently had the radiator replaced in my truck after hitting a dog. I have had dramas ever since with water pissing out the overflow bottle. I am guessing i still have air in the system does anyone know the best way to bleed it. I have a turbo diesel d40

Cheers Steve

On a cold motor, remove both caps. Fill radiator to the top with a 50/50 mix, once it is full(it will fall a little), put the radiator cap (the one not spring loaded!) on and keep it on. Fill overflow, but leave cap off. Start truck and crank the heat. Let it come up to operating temp, with the heat on. Check level in overflow, add if needed. Give the truck a few revs and run at about 1500 rpms for about a minute. Top off overflow and put cap on. That should do it.

I had similar issues with the cooling system on my 4Runner. I used to squeeze the radiator hoses in an effort to "burp" the system . I would then start the engine let it get a little warmth and then shut it down and burp it again. Usually there is a high point in a system with a bleeder.
Worst case and have had to do it once was find a really steep incline so the radiator cap is defiantely the highest point in the system and then do the burping thingy.
It definately does sound like air in your system and whoever fitted the cooling system should have fixed it .
Oh yeah have the heater on full hot when you burp it .

AMRS Enduro's that run 3 hours are megga slow to watch lol

Thanks boys have done all the above and more. Mate works at a Nissan dealer and he printed off the process needed to bleed the system. We have done this and still have the overflow problem.

The dealer had a similar problem with a car that had got hot and the engine was rooted. So it is off to Nissan Friday for them to check it out.

When i lost the radiator i drove it for a few minutes with the temp gauge getting as high as 3/4 i doubt that is hot enough to hurt it but we will see.

Make sure the fan is coming on.
Are you seeing bubbles coming up in the radiator?
If you still think you have air in the system lift the front end making the radiator the highest point in the cooling system.

The Dog Is Haunting Your Cooling System...... Seriously I Use A Adapter That Fits In The Radiator Neck And Hooks To An Air Source Then Creates A Vacuum On The System And Hoses Suck Flat And Draws Out Any Air. Then You Put Other End Into Coolant Bottle, Flip Valve And It Sucks Into System Without Drawing In Any Air Or Leaving Air In System. Works Great
