Bakflip Install

Just finished installing my new Bakflip tonneau cover. Took about 15 minutes, and looks incredible, much better than I thought it would.
If anyone is considering getting a Bakflip, get it, you won't be disappointed.

Nice truck, looks like the same color as my 08.
Can you paint those Bakflips? I was thinking of getting one, and it'd be nice if I could make it match the truck.

Thank you for the compliment. That pic was taken before the BAKFlip install. Actually you won't need to paint it. The finish is textured, but it is kind of a gloss black, and it matches my paint very well. The color of my truck is "Super Black".

Anyway, I highly recommend the BAKFlip, if you get one, you will not be disappointed in any aspect of it, and you won't need to paint it. All the best.

Hi demondrive, yes security is one of the main reasons I bought it. It is pretty cool, it is locked, and secured when you lock your tailgate.

I will try and get some pics up real soon, but in the mean time check out BAKFlip Tonneau Cover

waterproof?

Nice top, dude. My only concern about the BakFlip is, does it leak at all? I won't be storing anything valuable in the bed, but just curious as to how watertight they are.

The way it works is that any water that may seep in travels through the channels on the side brackets, and then drains in the front. There are two drains, one on each side in the front, and you attach a tube that they supply to each side, and then run it down to the drain holes in the front of the bed.

I haven't had it out in the rain yet, so I'm not sure how dry it stays, but some of the other guys on here that have a BAKFlip say they see little to no water in the bed.

I have to say, I was skeptical of the BAKFlip at first, but everyone seems to like them, so I got it, and am extremely impressed with it. It is extremely sturdy, and everything is high quality.

I went thru a downpour the other night(Driving 65-85mph) and the only moisture was from the spray against the tailgate. I haven't done the gasket yet so that will prolly go away. I do see a small potential for leakage at the tailgate end of the rail/channel. It doesn't go all the way to the gate, it stops about an inch from it so if you had water in the channels that ran toward the gate end it would go into the bed area.

As my truck is stock, with the nose lower, when it sits on the street it drains using the tubes in the front of the bed... totally dry inside.

I liked it so much I went back to the dealer and showed it off to the accy. guys.

Have had one on my truck for about a year now. Mine leaks and the rubber strips on the underside come off easily. Hopefully it all has been fixed since I bought mine but it was a lot of cash to pay for these thing to happen.
