Auto Transmission Jerks

Everytime I switch my gear from P to R or R to D my truck jerks. It takes about 3 seconds until the gear catches . Is this normal? Does it need tranny fluid?

I would check the fluid, mine doesn't do that. once in a while theres a little delay going from P-D-R, but never a jerk.

some frontys, pathys & X's came low on tranny sauce. Noticed mine was shifting late and revving out too far, took it in and got the sauce and news. No more weirdness.
