Anyone use their Frontier for work?
I use and abuse my truck every day for work, and I'm thinking of replacing it with a new Frontier. Anyone routinely haul tools and materials etc? How does the bed hold up? Any issues with load ratings of bed rails and tie downs?
I'd be putting a sprayed-on liner in. Had one put in my current truck (Dakota) a decade ago, and it's held up really well. |

I have used mine from hauling hot water boilers and other HVAC heavy weights to filling it up with lumber along with some B tank and nitrogen tanks. The tie downs systems works but you need more than 4 cleats to spread the load. The tail gate is a weak point as with some other trucks on the market. The hinge design to easily remove it (something I never do) causes the gate to pop out on the right side if opened too quickly. My old Ford did the same thing

Gee, that really helps to answer my question. What you're telling me, is that you own a truck for looks. Essentially, you own a car.
![]() I'm asking if this is a truck, that can be used as a truck. Help me out here, fellas. This vehicle will be a part of me making a living. Hopefully for many years. If all you do is commute to work in it, you don't have the information I'm looking for. I'm between the Tacoma and the Frontier. One thing about the Tacoma that makes me skeptical, is the "composite" bed. I could see putting a piece of steel angle right through it. I might sound a bit serious, but I'll soon be going out and spending $20some K on a brand new truck. I want it to be one that can take punishment. |

I haul a bed load of chemicals, tools, machines ( buffers, extractors ) all the time and pull a trailer with a 100 gallon water tank ( 833 lbs of water ), a pressure washer, generator and related stuff in the box......and it works well !

The most i have done to my truck was put 18 bags of 80lbs cement bags for my dad house. The back sagged a little from the weight but drive wise i didn't fell anything different other than the front end pointing up a little more.

[quote=Clint;495719]Put a few heavy duty zip ties on the hinge and it will not be able to pop out anymore.
That works thanks.

I use mine for work. Heavy tools, parts for water systems, copper, etc...
The bed takes a beating and asks for more, and holds up like a champ. I love my truck.
