its forced on us in TN. I've only ever used e10 since i've had the truck. previous truck was a diesel...so i an't comment.

Though, my high compression mustang motor (12.8:1) didn't seem to have any complaints.

Thats strange that you guys can't find regular at all. Your lawn mowers and dirt bikes/quads and that should HAVE to run reg or premium. Thats just strange.

In CT all fuel used to have MTBE, now its all E10. My last two tanks have been 19.9 mpg and 20.1 mpg with about 70% highway driving.

Every single gas station in my area has the "contains 10% ethenol" sign. I think I might have lost about 1mpg, but its hard to tell.

I thought the same thing too. I believe you are right. MTBE can't be used anymore so the sub is ethanol. Some stations call it E 10 some just call it regular, plus or premium.

All of the gas stations I've been to in my area have the ethanol signs; however, I read a while back (maybe on the ethanol website) that oil companies are only required to distribute a lesser percentage (maybe 2%) of ethanol overall. So, the 10% ethanol sign should maybe read "contains UP TO 10% ethanol. For example, say they have a full 10% ethanol at one station (one day), then they can have 0% ethanol at 9 other stations at all that day (I think I did that right). As time goes on, the 2% number will increase. I also read that oil companies get some of the profit from the ethanol they distribute (that's fair), but they also get a subsidy for every gallon of gas they don't sell (nice).

Most of the owner's manuals I have for small engine (my push mower and small outboard) state 10% ethanol is acceptable for them also.

I think I read that Texas requested a waiver on ethanol because it's driving up food costs.
I dont see any stations that even remotely state E10 anywhere, but Farmers and Ranchers are pissed about the cost of Corn feed for cattle and other livestock right now, its bad.

exactly. putting food in our gas tanks is the dumbest idea...possibly ever. It has driven up the cost of meat, dairy and everything with corn in it. Sad thing is, the feds are probably still subsidizing the corn farmers.

I know that parts of south america...brazil...runs on like 98% pure ethanol made from sugar cane. The other 2% runs on E-85. Half of the countries money went towards outside energy...now they rely on themselves. It's pretty cool to see that...also corn is like one of the worst plant to get ethanol from...lol...only 12/100%? Oh and when gasoline is was 2.40...their ethanol prices were 1.30...that is sweet!!! sugarcane sweet!

The price of gasoline is in high demand because india and china are following our carbon footprints....brazil used to be the same...until they experienced the gasoline shortage in the 70s like we did..they stopped relying on outside source and went to an alternative method by using ethanol....we should of done the same thing but i guess we "forgot" and started buying more gasoline to fuel out SUVs...I hope brazil is laughing at us right now...with our 4.00 per gallon prices...which will soon be 5.00 probably by the end of the year or sooner.

But corn is the best we got...for now.

The increased production of E85 has done more damage than good. as a clean air alternative fuel its actually increased air pollution.

Reason: increased E85 consumption/production = Increased corn production = increased harvesting = increased Diesel fuel consumption = increased gasoline consumption = increase of needed diesel and gasoline = larger demand on crude oil to power the machines and processes to create E85 = more pollution.

The idea to create a cleaner fuel to help clean up the pollution actually creates more pollution it self. not to mention greatly reduces food supplies.
