Question Is anyone forced to run E10 yet?

Has anyone been forced to run E10 yet? Just curious because the FL governor is going to force it by 2010. I hope it wont get me worse MPG's for the same price. Averaging 18-19 now 06 CC SE 4x2 at sea level with 80+ degrees.

I run it all the time up here in IA. It's about 10-20 cents cheaper than regular and higher octane. Don't notice any difference in it if you are wondering what it'll run like. I ran regular in mine every once in a while within the last year or two, mainly when I filled up my jet ski.

I've run a few tanks of it. Generally when you see it up here, the gas station has that and only that.

My notes show about 1mpg decrease in mpg's when I run it but it's only been a few random tanks and my mileage can vary that much week to week anyway depending on where and how I've driven. That said, E10 does contain less energy than regular gasoline so it makes sense that you will see a decrease in mileage.

Every study I've ever seen on E85 shows a significant decrease in mpg's (this on vehicles that will run either fuel) and, for those octane freaks, it is worth noting that ethanol has a higher octane content than gasoline (and to recap, it also contains less energy and results in lower mpg's).

Exact Low Energy Content of Ethanol (as a caveat, I do not believe everything I read on the net and didnt really look at this one that closely)

Search for Cars that don't need gas (should be reliable, government data...the same government that wants us using ethanol for some reason)

I'm kinda confused. I thought all gasoline contained 10% Ethanol these days? Every pump I see in my state has it so marked. The Federal government took MBTE (Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether) out of the formula I thought.

Not everyone uses E10, but pretty much everyone uses ethanol in some form or fashion in gas b/c of MTBE being phased out.

less than half the gas stations here have E10.

I think I read that Texas requested a waiver on ethanol because it's driving up food costs.

Every gas station around here as far as I know has a sticker on the pump that says it may contain up to 10% ethanol. I've put 17k miles on my truck so far with these fuels with no problems.

Hawaii is forced to use it. Everybody grumbles that it effects gas mileage and performance. Meh, I dunno. The thing that screws with my gas mileage the most is my foot and how deep into the injectors I stick it.

Ethanol (E10) had disappeared in my area years ago; no one wanted the cheap bad gas. In the last few months every station is jumping on the bandwagon. I might have filled up with my last regular tank, its getting that hard to find regular in my area. Kroger of all places still had the regular gas, while the BP and Shell stations have gone to E10. Guarantee me a water free tank of E10 and I don’t mind, but all I see in the future are engine and fuel system problems.
