My 08 is fastly approaching 30,000 miles (need to stay home more), and I want to do an AmsOil drain and fill for the transmission. Being that I have a lot of money in my PayPal account, I'd like to buy it with that (I know that I can transfer the $ to another account, but all of you that are married understand it when I say no). Does anyone on here use a dealer that accepts PayPal and sells close to dealer cost? Looking for 6-7qts of ATF.

You don't need to stay home more because you lose the smile factor of racking them miles up.
This is a general question to you and anyone else who can answer this:
If the Nissan fluid gets you to a 30,000 mile interval why not put the same fluid in at change time? I understand about meeting or exceeding factory specs etc. but if you had a failure, you pay out of your pocket to get the truck repaired and then battle them to get reimbursed. They won't give in right away and your truck will be laid up in the meantime.
The majority of owners out there can't afford to have their ride in pieces while they fight between the aftermarket maker and the trucks manufacturer until it's resolved, you need to have your daily driver back on the road.
There is a member here who called corporate to get a FINAL AND DEFINITIVE answer on if he could have a truck built a certain way (exactly like mine) and they can't even solve that issue much less replace a $4000 to $5000 trans with another vendor involved. He already told them I own the same truck he wanted and they said we don't build them that way.
Now if it's a part that you can replace easily and less costly while you fight it's another thing. This is just something I read about all the time on here and other forums I belong to or have belonged to in the past.
As I said I'm not singling you out but I'd give this a bit more thought or call the dealer and ask a "what if" question or two as they are who you will have to deal with if someting goes wrong.

That's funny! I tried to get a truck like that too in 08, but was told that Clint is the only person that is allowed to have one like that. Well to topic...
I was asking a question about transmission fluid that I'm buying. I didn't think that I would read lecture about changing out fluids. Fact of the matter is it depends on your relationship between the vehicle owner and their dealer but whatever... I've changed out my intake without worrying, added a tuner without worrying, changed my own oil every 3K miles with PP without worrying and changed out the rear-end fluid to RP without worrying. And guess what? I'm going to change out the tranny fluid in a few weeks... without worrying. I assume that experiences in your lifetime have made you extremely cautious, but I have thoroughly enjoyed moding vehicles throughout most of my 31 years of life (yes even as a child) and I will continue to do so to my likings for as long as I am capable... So again, has anyone ordered Amsoil online using Paypal.

Reason: Automerged Doublepost
I changed my wife's auto trans in her Montero to Amsoil fluid @30K and noticed an improvement right away. I've got 80K on the clock now and the fluid is still pink. Figure I'm good for another 50K.

Hey not a lecture but as you aware there are stickers and warnings, there is even one on the bottom of the trans. stating that this trans isn't like anything else ourt there. Just so you know if the trans goes they have to answer to Nissan corporate for the repair. The trans goes in "the bucket" which is returned to nissan engineering and the dealership is then on the hook financially if your service guy being nice gives you a replacement that they find was damaged by other fluid.
All the other fluids in our vehicles aren't the same as this situation.
On the other hand I could sit here and say nothing and should someone have the issue play out as my scenario, eat a transmission plus labor.
I too like yourself do all my service but this 5 speed auto trans I won't play games with, I don't have the cash to gamble with. Carry on......

Why don't you just tell the wifey "it's scheduled maintenance for the vehicle" that you are willing to do yourself... She can/should call the dealer for a price quote for the same job too.
I'll stay away from the factory/factory spec. debate tho'.
Yeah she doesn’t mind. Long story short, I just sold a house in another state and lost a lot of cabbage so trying to stay away from the plastic card pit that a lot of people try to dig themselves out of. Clint, I didn't intend to come off like a prick. I understand and appreciate your concerns but it just rubbed me the wrong way...

I hope never to come off like I know all. For whatever reason even a good company like amsoil doesn't get a green light to use it or other well known brands of oils in the trans. It seems like we're boxed in a corner and will have a problem later. I mentioned my truck because the other member was told no by a dealer and after a full week Nissan themselves who write the rules couldn't give him a straight answer, but a call to my dealer said yes it's still an available option on their ordering system information.
My point being if they can't figure out what they sell can you imagine if you or another member here blew a trans and had to wait for a decision? The truck would be sitting while the wheels in Nissan corporate turn slowly.
I hope it works out for you.
